Polar Vision Centres Ltd. Supports and Serves the Inuit

Polar Vision Centres Ltd. offers an annual $2500 scholarship, established to encourage Inuit to continue with their education and pursue academic excellence. Eligible applicants must be Beneficiaries of the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement and enrolled in a recognized, accredited educational institution for the academic year. Mature adult education students may also apply.

Karl O'keefe - General Manager
Dispensing Optician/ Contact Lens Practitioner Assistant /Traveler

 

Karl has 22 years of experience in the optical industry.  As the general manager of Polar Vision, he is responsible for day to day business operations and customer service. Karl has lived in Yellowknife for 27 years and has traveled to most northern communities in Nunavut and Baffin Region.

 

Beth Saturos - Lab Manager
Licenced Optician

 

Beth has 24 years of experience managing and operating an optical lab. As a lab manager, she is responsible for the accurate and efficient cutting of all prescription glasses manufactured on-site. Glasses are then packaged and shipped throughout Nunavut. Beth has been in the North for 29 years.

Chona Alberca - Lab Assistant / Traveler

 

Chona is a full-time employee of Polar Vision. She started with Polar Vision 8 years ago. She loves helping customers and assisting other colleaugues. She has lived in the North for 12 years and has recently started traveling to Nunavut and Baffin as well.

 

Marnna Traill - Full-Time Traveler / Admin Assistant

 

Marnna brings on board 15 years of retail management experience. She is looking forward to serving Polar Vision’s patients in Nunavut. She has travelled to the Kiv/Baff region and looks forward to seeing all the beauty that the rest of the territory has to offer. Marnna has lived in the North for 25 years.

Joann Murphy - Opticians Assistant / Traveler

 

Joann started with Polar Vision in February 2024, and has been in the optical industry for the past 6 years. Joann enjoys helping customers at our Yellowknife location and also travels to most northern communities in Nunavut and Baffin Region.

 Emma Dizon - Lab Assistant

 

Emma started with Polar Vision 11 years ago. She has many years of experience working in optical laboratories. Emma works side by side with Beth to make sure our patients of Nunavut receive their glasses in a timely manner. Emma has lived in the North for 25 years.

 

Eira Hatkaittuq

 

Eira is a part time employee of Polar Vision and joined the team in June 2023. Eira assists the Opticians with the day-to-day tasks, greeting patients and 

dispensing their glasses. Eira has lived in Yellowknife for 3 years and enjoys all it has to offer.
